... and please don't wake up early, little man!!
Noah has had some sleep issues the past few days. And when your little guy is only eight weeks old, a few days seems like a looooooong time and it feels like it will never get better. *sigh*
But actually, he DID do better today, after three days of not going down easily and then not staying asleep easily, thereby becomeing OVERtired and sleeping even LESS.
Funny how when you're in the thick of tough baby stuff, it feels like it will NEVER get better. But as soon as it's better, you think, "Well, that wasn't so bad." Ah, selective memory and mommy amnesia. Keeps us going, I suppose!
Some current Noah sleep facts at 8 weeks:
1. he sleeps best when swaddled.
2. he sleeps in one of three spots, as seen in the pictures-- the pack n' play, the swing, or the carseat.
3. he loves/needs to be bounced/jiggled/swayed to calmness before he'll go down on his own. On good days, if we catch the window, we can put him down awake and calm and he'll drift off to dreamland on his own. More often, though, he'll lay there for a few minutes, then realize he's been put down, and fuss for more holding time. Still, 8 times out of 10 we get him down while still somewhat awake.
4. he used to sleep horizontal in his pack-n-play, but has recently gotten a bit too big for that. We now lay him down in his crib the usual way. Sad! Stay teeny, Noah!
5. he loves/needs white noise! The blow dryer is our best friend. (But that's another post, coming soon!)
6. he smiles little phantom smiles in his sleep, mostly right when he nods off or is about to wake. These smiles were his first, and they are irresistible!
7. if we can avoid the overtiredness, his naps are often 1.5 to 2 hours long. When he gets overtired, he'll wake after 45 minutes and it is tough (sometimes impossible) to get him back to sleep.
8. he really doesn't love to be in the car, but if we give him his pacifier while we're driving places, he'll sooth to sleep and then the drive is easier.
9. the longest he's let me sleep between feeds is 3.5 hours.
10. he still sleeps 2/3rds of the day. CRAZY!

Thank you Emily
I'm missing him terribly...
it helps...
I could have written most of your post! "selective memory and mommy amnesia", so true. :-) My Joe got a kick out of it too.
Oh, I love all those precious moments. You'll so love looking back on these posts! And, of course, I love all the pictures. Sweet sleepin' Noah...so adorable!
