Perserverance

Noah was extra edgy during his nap time today--- not sleepy for some reason.... so after only 20 minutes in his room, he called for me and said he was done.

Welllllll. Yeah right. I am used to his nap time lasting 2-3 hours. No WAY was he done. So I told him a time to look at the clock (about 50 minutes from then) and told him when the long hand of the clock hit the 4
he could be done.

I left.

15 minutes later, he called for me again. He pointed excitedly at the clock and said it was time. The SHORT hand of the clock was indeed on the 4.

I had to tell him the sad news that there was still a ways to go, and he was not happy. He kept coming up with different reasonings as to why he could be done right then.... And I kept persisting with the fact that he had to stay in his room---- no choice.

So. He did.

I left.

Precisely at 4:20, the appointed time, I went and released him from his prison. He was thrilled. I sat with him on the top step of our stairs to reiterate to him why we have quiet time, and told him I was proud of him for hanging in there.

He looked at me, nodded his head solemnly, and said, "Mom, I didn't give up."

That's my boy--- what a feat of strength. Haha!

I'm glad you held your ground so he could feel the "thrill of victory" over himself :-)

Keep up the good work, Mommy!

Love ya...
