Lamby Lovey

meet Noah's lovey--

This little lamb is Noah's lovey... His security. Given to him before he was even born by his Grandma "Lamb"son (get the significance?), this was the item Joe and I chose to introduce to Noah as a potential candidate for a lovey around the age of 3 months, when we moved him to his own crib and I went back to work. It seems like, in my memory, it didn't take him long to attach to it. We'd hold it near him when we'd rock him. We'd include it in any comforting needed... And we made sure to bring it on trips so that when it was time for him to sleep, we'd bring it out then and add it to his bedtime routine.

The photos above are when Noah is 12 months old... and clearly, by this time, he was DEEPLY attached. The last photo is him laughing and reaching for his lamby when I hold it above his head. The photos of him with lamby in his mouth are perfect captures of the way he interacts with his lovey. His lamby is in his mouth any time he needs soothing. A funny thing-- for the first SEVERAL months of this, I never washed Lamby, and as crazy as it sounds, I SWEAR it smelled like graham crackers. For months. (Does this mean my baby has the sweet breath of graham crackers?? :) )

Since the above photos, we've helped Noah get supremely attached to his baby quilt from Grandma as well... I don't have photos at the moment, but now he requires BOTH lamby and blankie as a TEAM, and clutches them both to him joyfully when we put him in his crib.

This lovey thing is so funny to me.... I adore watching him adore these inanimate objects, because he so clearly does. And If I can feel such delight at seeing Noah love an item, I cannot begin to image the joy I'll feel when Noah one day loves a sister or brother. It's almost unimaginable.

One thing's for sure-- my baby knows how to love. And that is MAGIC to me.

I totally love the idea of a lovey too, and somehow, someway, Noah totally became attached to his taggy blankets.... and they are the tell of for him when he needs comfort. I love it!!!!!
Love your pictures of Noah. :)

Love=biting in noahs world...doesn't that worry you a smidge? Just kidding of course. I loved seeing him react so strongly to the lovie and see him derive such comfort from it. Kids are cute, darn it.

And I love that he is now attached to a blankie. Everyone should be attached to a blankie during their life.

So sweet! And I love how different he looks in just a few months!

Man, to think what a hair cut and a few months will do!! That is adorable that he loves his lovey -- Max has a stuffed 'pup pup' in his crib that I see him hugging and kissing as he falls asleep - it melts my heart too.....

Biting down on a soft blankie-type item would SO not be comforting to me (all those fuzzies in my mouth..echh!)...but then, Noah eats his fruits and veggies and I am a poor example of a good eater. So what do I know?

Lovely to see him looking impish and DELIGHTED!

So precious - those things which bring us joy and comfort. Luke is way more into the whole lovey thing than Max ever was, and it is delightful to watch. (And yeah - that sibling love is the coolest!)
