What I Am Loving About My Baby These Days

Last night, my kiddo decided to be awake and UPSET from 4:30 am to 6:30 am.

Ugh.

And today he decided to skip his nap.

Two reasons to be disenchanted with my baby. Really. BUT. Tonight I read about another baby who was taken back to rest in the arms of our Savior at only 11 months old, and I realized--- Today is not the day to ruminate on all the things that went WRONG with my kid and my day as a stay-at-home-mom. Today is the day to CELEBRATE my sweet son. Every day is a day to celebrate my sweet son, who I got to kiss goodnight just a little while ago. Too many empty-handed parents didn't get that moment today.

So... a list.

What I Am Loving About My Baby These Days

I love the way he looked yesterday when I went in to get him from his nap. (see above)... His hair was all tousled and he was full of charming smiles for me. SO excited to see me.

I love the way he pats me on the back sometimes when I pick him up and hold him.

I love his little set of four teeth on top and four teeth on bottom, and how they come together in his sweet little grin.

I love his little voice saying, "Baa-Baa" and clutching his fist open and closed as he waves farewell.

I love that when I get off the phone, he mimics me saying "bye bye" with his little "baa baa!"

I love his scoot. So innovative, so original... so HIM.

I love all the signs he know and uses. His little hands forming shapes and words and his face lighting up when we understand him.

I love kissing the top of his head, his soft, thick hair...

I love his little bum.... And his skinny legs... and his belly button.

I love that he sinks into my chest when he is tired and I am singing to him before naps and bedtime.

I love when he figures out something new-- like turning a flashlight on and off...

I love that he LOVES books and will bring very specific ones to me to read to him.

I love how he freezes whenever he hears an airplane or helicopter and makes the sign for "airplane" and makes a whooooshing sound.

I love that when I say the word "hot", he blows... like he is blowing on a bite of hot food.

I also love that sometimes when I say the word "HAT", he thinks I am saying "hot" and still blows!

I love that he brings hats for Dad to wear, and sunglasses for me to wear.

I love that when he hears a phone ring, he brings his forearm to his ear and makes a "hello" sound with inquisitive eyes at me.

I love his "ooo??" sound that he uses instead of "uh-oh".... More like an "oops!" without the P.

I love his heft.... he is still so small, but he is solid, and warm, and real... and a complete miracle.

*

I MADE this kid. I wasn't the architect, just the factory, but I MADE HIM from scratch.... and NOW look at him! How amazing is this baby-thing??? Really... Incredible. He started so small, and grows in leaps and bounds every day.

I am so blessed to be given stewardship over this human being. I am so blessed for every day I have with him. I am so blessed.

Moms, all of you are so blessed. Give your baby another kiss, and know you are blessed.

I feel the same way after reading about Cora. :c(
Your little guy sounds like such a sweetie. It's nice that you took the time to write out all these little things, because they're the types of memories that fade with time.
I also wanted to say thanks for all the comments on my blog lately. I LOVE getting comments and knowing that people are actually reading my blabbering. lol

Holy cow, noah is growing up so fast. Too fast. Gosh, it gets too easy to forget that the first few years are so full of changes. That is one of the things that makes living in Indiana suck. Overall, I like being here, but I sure miss getting to see my adorable nephew grow up gradually- I only get to see it in spurts. Still, that is one handsome boy you have there (must come from the good-looking Jeannes- i mean, genes- that run in the family ;)
