Guess what time it is?

I can't believe the time for solid food is really here already... so soon?? But there's no denying your readiness for something other than breastmilk and formula-- you're grabbing at our plates, holding yourself up well, starting to wake a bit more again... all signs pointing to Baby Food City.
So we bought you an avocado. A pretty hard one. I guess I was trying to put the baby food day off for as long as possible. I told Joe that as soon as the avocado softened enough, it was God's sign you were meant to be fed solids. I was joking. Sort of. After a week or so, the avocado was getting smushy and we knew it was time.
So this Wednesday, April 30, you, at five months and one week of age, had your first solid food:

Oh my GOODNESS! I LOVE his pose at the end! He's totally like an old man poking his belly out slouching in his chair after a big steak dinner, with his arm slung over one side.
Oh that made me giggle. Thanks for sharing, Em! Your photos tell a GREAT story. I was all on tenterhooks as you introduced the high chair and your description of the time leading up to the Solid Food Debut.
So, so good. See you tomorrow, yay!

What a big day! Thank you for all the pictures and your timely call this morning to us. Avocados are yummy!
It's such a big transition to a solid-food-eating baby! Congratulations on making it this far - that's a huge milestone.
And could that highchair be any cooler?!!?!
We've now started too... it's such a big transition! Tristan doesn't totally love eating food though, so we'll keep trying different flavors and see what she likes the most. So far, the sweet potatoes are the winner!
I just love the way Noah keeps leaning forward, eager for more! (Hopefully, he will be a veggie lover, unlike certain way-too-picky-siblings of yours... *sigh* believe it or not, I wish my tongue and gag reflex would accept more vegetables than they do... one step at a time, I suppose...)
I love it - it makes my day! Thanks again and see you soon-ish...
