The Best Joke!

Last night we had the missionaries over for dinner. At the end of the meal, one of the elders offered a spiritual message, and directed it to Noah specifically. He had an object lesson that taught about prayer and calling on our Heavenly Father for help. As the elder wrapped up his thoughts, he concluded with this line:

" And remember, if wee ever need anything, we can turn to our Heavenly Father."

At which point, Noah cut in and said, like it was the biggest punchline ever, "HEAVENLY FATHER????? Ba-hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!" And he laughed and laughed and laughed....

And all of us just looked at him, then swapped looks with each other, incredulous at this unexpected reaction. The elder not teaching began to laugh, too--- it was such a funny thing to see this 4-year old cracking up at the mere mention of our revered God. 

Finally, Noah stopped laughing long enough to say, "We can TURN INTO HEAVENLY FATHER??!" And started laughing again. 

And suddenly we all got it. And instantly, we were all laughing too--- even more than Noah, because wow. THAT'S what he heard. And of course he'd be utterly gobsmacked to think that this Elder seriously thought we could simply TURN INTO God. Anytime we want to. 

So he laughed.

And we laughed. 

And a good time was had by all.
