A Bit of Our Easter...

Noah and I dyed eggs on Friday. Since it was a beautiful afternoon, we took the whole operation outside and enjoyed the weather. My friend Judie had suggested it as a way to minimize mess, and I thought it was BRILLIANT!

(The whisk idea came from my sister Julina, who had read it in a magazine. I LOVED it! Easier for Noah to dip dip dip...)

Then our little family got our visit from the Easter bunny on Saturday--- a tradition my parents began as a way to take a step away from the secular things on the actual day of Easter. I really enjoy this tradition. We get to be loud, rowdy, and gluttonous on Saturday, letting Noah have so much fun with the eggs and the basket and all, but then on Sunday, we don't have to race to do Easter activities first thing, but then get ready for church and try to be reverent and contemplative about our Savior right after.

So we got everything together in time for a Saturday celebration, and Noah had a BLAST. He got to find 11 hard-boiled eggs and 14 plastic eggs, all tucked in easy little locations in our small side yard. It was a crisp, sunny morning, and he was in heaven! We even let him crack a few eggs open for "treats" before breakfast.

It was a simple Sunday holiday for us.... No family get-togethers, no ham dinner, no fancy table settings... But we made do, and loved it. Coffee cake for breakfast, and a yummy chicken/mashed potato dinner... Cupcakes for dessert. And if you count the stopover from Beckie, Steven and Tamara, then we DID get some family for a little while on Sunday! :)

It was a lovely Easter, with my lovely little guy and my sweet husband.

the whisk idea is freaking genius! My poor kid didn't get to dye eggs this year, but next year, I'm using that.

I love love the idea of having the Easter Bunny coming on Saturday. I think I'm going to have to adopt that tradition.
