July Six 2008

Here, long overdue, is a list of Noah's latest likes/dislikes/quirks, and tendencies:

1. In the photo above, Noah is AVIDLY watching his "Baby Signing Time" DVD-- a DVD he got from his Grandma Vicki and Grandpa Joe. He LOVES the songs and the little animations, and could sit watching the little kids doing sign language for HOURS. How fun will it be when he begins signing back?? We're working on it slowly but steadily.

2. Noah LOVES eating baby foods. He is still a good nurser, but man, mealtime at the high chair is always cause for excitement for him. He has taken to grunting as a way to show he wants more. His latest favorite? Bananas, all chunky and slimy.

3. Noah is now an EXPERT at sitting up on his own for loooong periods of time. (See bum photo above). He really likes this new perspective, and we have used it during his bathtimes, in the kitchen surrounded by pots and pans, and at church with toys scattered around him as a way to keep him content. It is a WONDERFULLY HANDY new skill and I'm loving it.

4. While he is sitting up like a champ, he isn't interested at ALL in moving to the next stage and crawling away from his post. I am in no hurry for this anyway, so take your time, Noah! Let's all enjoy your good, static sitting-ness before you get all mobile on us.

5. Noah's nights are usually really good, for him. He's in bed no later than 6:45 p.m., and always goes to bed like a champ-- he has his babyfood meal, a fun bath, then he gets his jammies on and nurses, then we sing him a song or two and he is in his bed and happily snuggling up to his lovey blanket and going to sleep. He'll usually wake no sooner than 2 or 3 a.m., and then often won't wake until morning, which for him is at 7ish. Every few nights, he might relapse a bit and wake another time, or wake a bit too early, but after those early months of his waking every three hours on the dot to eat, often with crying wakeups in between, I'll take this new set-up!

6. He has taken to "singing along" with all the songs I am constantly singing to him. He vocalizes in the cutest, droning way, and starts when I do and stops when I do. It's pretty unmistakable imitation. I LOVE it.

7. Noah is learning to give kisses and wave "bye-bye" and "hello". He is not doing it 100% of the time, but he DOES do it!

8. He is really good in the car. He'll play happily with the links and toys on his carseat, and when we sing to him or talk to him, we can see in his baby mirror that he smiles and loves to recognize our voices, even if he can't see us. It is DANG cute, and I have to be careful to watch the road and not him the entire time!

9. Noah got to "talk" to his grandparents in Korea live via webcam this week for the first time. He mostly wanted to eat the camera, but it was pretty successful. We love getting to hear your voices AND see your faces, Grandma and Grandpa!

10. He is VERY generous with the smiles, and one of his newer smiles includes a gummy, eyes-closed grin that shows his two teeny little bottom teeth. This adorable smile is often accompanied by a growly "eeeeeeehh" sound that matches the smile, and shows his excitement for whatever/whoever he is smiling at.

....Ahhh... That's enough for now. You get the gist. He is so interactive, charming, interested in his world, and aware of things around him. We love watching him figure things out. What amazing creatures these babies are, aren't they??
